Accessibility.
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice, that means you should be able to:
- navigate the whole site using a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator
- use the site with a screen reader, with clear headings, labelled links and form fields, and text alternatives for meaningful images
- zoom in up to 400% without content being cut off or needing to scroll sideways
- read text with good colour contrast
- turn off animation by enabling the “reduce motion” setting on your device
How we built it
- Pages use a logical heading structure and landmarks, with a “Skip to content” link.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors are explained in text next to the field they relate to.
- The search illustration on the home page cycles through example searches while it is on screen. It stops when you scroll past it or switch tabs, and it doesn't move at all if you have reduced motion turned on.
- There are no CAPTCHA puzzles on our enquiry form.
Known limitations
We test the site regularly, but we may not have caught everything. If something doesn't work for you, please let us know.
- The home page search illustration has no pause button. Turning on reduced motion in your device settings stops it.
